Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF1) is similar to Insulin (INS) in function and structure and is a member of a family of proteins involved in mediating growth and development. IGF1 is processed from a precursor, bound by a specific receptor, and secreted. Defects in the, IGF1, gene are a cause of Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 deficiency. IGF1 consists of 70 amino acids residues in a single chain with three intramolecule disulfide linkages and a molecular weight of 7.649 kDa. The Human IGF1 ELISA is an, in vitro, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of Human IGF1 in serum, plasma, cell culture supernatants and urine. This assay employs an antibody specific for IGF1 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and IGF1 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and Biotinylated Anti-Human IGF1 antibody is added. After washing away unbound Biotinylated antibody, HRP-Streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of IGF1 bound.
Storage and Stability
May be stored for up to 6 months at 2-8C from the date of shipment. Standard should be stored below -20C (-80C recommended) after reconstitution. Opened Microplate Wells and reagents may be store for up to 1 month at 2-8C. Return unused wells to the pouch containing desiccant pack, reseal along entire edge of zip seal.
The minimum detectable dose of IGF1 is typically less than 0.2 ng/mL.
