The protein encoded by this gene is a glycoprotein, belonging to the pentaxin family of proteins, which has a characteristic pentameric organization. These family members have considerable sequence homology which is thought to be the result of gene duplication. The binding of the encoded protein to proteins in the pathological amyloid cross-beta fold suggests its possible role as a chaperone. This protein is also thought to control the degradation of chromatin. It has been demonstrated that this protein binds to apoptotic cells at an early stage, which raises the possibility that it is involved in dealing with apoptotic cells, in vivo . Amyloid P Component Human Recombinant produced in, E. coli, is a non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain having a molecular weight of 23.5 kDa. APCS contains T7 tag at N-terminus and is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques
Sterile filtered liquid in 10 mM Tris, pH 8.0 + 0.01% Triton X-100 + 0.002% sodium azide + 10 mM DTT. Precaution: Sodium azide is a poisonous and hazardous substance which should be handled by trained staff only.
Storage and Stability
APCS although stable at 4C for 1 week, should be stored desiccated below -20C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please note that the addition of any carrier protein into this product may produce unwanted endotoxin. This depends upon the particular application employed. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
