Description
SPARC (secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine), also known as osteonectin and BM40, is a secreted matricellular glycoprotein that belongs to a group of functionally related glycoproteins that includes tenascins C and X, thrombospondins 1 and 2, and osteopontin. Members in this class of glycoproteins are involved in tissue renewal, tissue remodeling, and embryonic development and work by exerting counteradhesive and antiproliferative effects that lead to changes in cell shape, disruption of cell adhesion, and inhibition of the cell cycle. SPARC is expressed at high levels in bone tissue but is widely distributed in many other tissues and cell types and is known to be associated with tissues undergoing morphogenesis, angiogenesis, mineralization, and other pathological responses to injury and tumorigenesi. SPARC has also been linked with obesity and diabetes.

Applications:
Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilutions:
Western Blot: 1:1000. Incubate membrane with diluted antibody in 5% BSA, 1X TBS, 0.1% Tween-20 at 4°C with gentle shaking, overnight.
Immunoprecipitation: 1:50
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
