Description	Immunological Identity and C-3 concentration verified by radial immunodiffusion. Protein determination by the method of Lowry and optical density at 280nm (0.97). electrophoretic and chromatographic data consistant with a molecular weight of approx. 180, 000 for this product. Cellulose acetate electrophoresis shows one band with Beta2-mobility. SDS shows one major band.
Background	Complement component C3 plays a central role in the activation of complement system. Its activation is required for both classical and alternative complement activation pathways. People with C3 deficiency are susceptible to bacterial infection.
Form	Purified protein, in 0.01M Sodium phosphate buffer pH7.2, containing 0.15M NaCl. No preservative.
