Description	Biocytin is more polar than biotin. It is a natural substrate of the enzyme biotinidase, which cleaves it to make biotin available to other enzymes. Biocytin can therefore be used to measure the biotinidase activity and hence diagnose biotinidase deficiency. Biocytin is also used for cell tracing (histological stain for nerve cells)
