Immunogen
Peptide corresponding to the position alpha (65-79) of Tubulin.
Specificity
Recognizes alpha tubulin of various species. Recognizes a N-terminal structural domain of alpha tubulin. Reacts with peptides that correspond to position alpha (65-79) of Tubulin; band at 50kD.
Description
There are three classes of the ~50kD tubulin protein: alpha, beta and gamma. The alpha and beta tubulins form a heterodimer that polymerize into the cylindrical microtubule fibers. Both alpha and beta tubulin bind GTP; however, only beta tubulin hydrolyzes GTP to GDP. This hydrolysis is a process that is linked to tubulin polymerization and microtubule formation. The alpha tubulin isomer can be modified by addition of a C-terminal tyrosine residue. This modification may influence polymerization rates. The gamma tubulin isomer is localized to centrosomes which compose the heart of the microtubule organizing center from which microtubule fibers emanate.

Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, screening of expression libraries, identification of tubulin on fixed, frozen tissue sections and staining of microtubular structures in fixed cells by Immunofluorescence microscopy and by light microscopy using PAP complex. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Note: Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
