Bio Background	The protein encoded by this gene is an RNA binding proteinthat interacts with the functionally-similar proteins FMR1 andFXR2. These proteins shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm andassociate with polyribosomes, predominantly with the 6S ribosomalsubunit. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms havebeen found for this gene.
