Background	M. tuberculosis is the bacterium that causes tuberculosis in lungs. M. tuberculosis infection is currently screened by tuberculin skin test which may show false positive because of BCG vaccination, or false negative in immuno-compromised individuals. Chest X-ray and sputum test are used for confirmation of infection. Blood detection of M. tuberculosis specific proteins including ESAT-6, CFP10 and 38KD antigen, could be proven useful for testing active pulmonary tuberculosis.
