Description	Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor Alpha (PPAR alpha), a NR1 Thyroid Hormone-Like Receptor, is involved in the regulation of the hepatic response to peroxisomal proliferators, lipid metabolism, and inflammation response. PPAR Alpha binds to direct repeat 1 (DR1) hormone response elements as a heterodimer with the retinoic X receptor (RXR) and is activated by RXR ligands, fatty acids, peroxisome proliferators, and hypolipidemic fibrates including bezafibrate and clofibrate.
