Description	Muscarinic Cholinergic Receptor 1, an Acetylcholine Receptor, mediates the effects of acetylcholine in the central and peripheral nervous systems. M1 and other muscarinic receptors supply the cholinergic activity correlated with increased cognition and may be of use in the treatment of cognitive symptoms in schizophrenia. Acetylcholine Receptor M1 also controls vagally-induced bronchoconstriction, heart rate, and acid secretion in the gastrointestinal tract.
