Description of target	Contactins mediate cell surface interactions during nervous system development. Involved in the formation of paranodal axo-glial junctions in myelinated peripheral nerves and in the signaling between axons and myelinating glial cells via its association with CNTNAP1. Participates in oligodendrocytes generation by acting as a ligand of NOTCH1. Its association with NOTCH1 promotes NOTCH1 activation through the released notch intracellular domain (NICD) and subsequent translocation to the nucleus. Interaction with TNR induces a repulsion of neurons and an inhibition of neurite outgrowth (By similarity).

Kit principle	The microplate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Contactin 1 (CNTN1). Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microplate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Contactin 1 (CNTN1). Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then the mixture of substrate A and B is added to generate glow light emission kinetics. Upon plate development, the intensity of the emitted light is proportional to the Contactin 1 (CNTN1) level in the sample or standard.
Kit reproducibility	Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): 3 samples with low, middle and high level Contactin 1 (CNTN1) were tested 20 times on one plate, respectively. Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): 3 samples with low, middle and high level Contactin 1 (CNTN1) were tested on 3 different plates, 8 replicates in each plate.
