Description of target	Secreted growth factor that induces neurite outgrowth and which is mitogenic for fibroblasts, epithelial, and endothelial cells (PubMed:1768439, PubMed:1733956). Binds anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) which induces MAPK pathway activation, an important step in the anti-apoptotic signaling of PTN and regulation of cell proliferation (PubMed:11278720). Binds to cell-surface target proteins via their chondroitin sulfate groups (PubMed:26896299). Down-regulates PTPRZ1 activity (PubMed:16814777).

Kit principle	The microplate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Pleiotrophin (PTN). Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microplate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Pleiotrophin (PTN). Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then the mixture of substrate A and B is added to generate glow light emission kinetics. Upon plate development, the intensity of the emitted light is proportional to the Pleiotrophin (PTN) level in the sample or standard.
Kit reproducibility	Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): 3 samples with low, middle and high level Pleiotrophin (PTN) were tested 20 times on one plate, respectively. Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): 3 samples with low, middle and high level Pleiotrophin (PTN) were tested on 3 different plates, 8 replicates in each plate.
