Description of target	RNA-binding protein that binds to the 3'-UTR region of mRNAs and increases their stability (By similarity). Involved in embryonic stem cells (ESCs) differentiation: preferentially binds mRNAs that are not methylated by N6-methyladenosine (m6A), stabilizing them, promoting ESCs differentiation (By similarity). Binds to poly-U elements and AU-rich elements (AREs) in the 3'-UTR of target mRNAs. Binds avidly to the AU-rich element in FOS and IL3/interleukin-3 mRNAs. In the case of the FOS AU-rich element, binds to a core element of 27 nucleotides that contain AUUUA, AUUUUA, and AUUUUUA motifs. Binds preferentially to the 5'-UUUU[AG]UUU-3' motif in vitro (By similarity). With ZNF385A, binds the 3'-UTR of p53/TP53 mRNA to control their nuclear export induced by CDKN2A. Hence, may regulate p53/TP53 expression and mediate in part the CDKN2A anti-proliferative activity. May also bind with ZNF385A the CCNB1 mRNA (By similarity).

Kit principle	The test principle applied in this kit is Sandwich enzyme immunoassay. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to ELAV Like Protein 1 (ELAVL1). Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to ELAV Like Protein 1 (ELAVL1). Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain ELAV Like Protein 1 (ELAVL1), biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm +/- 10nm. The concentration of ELAV Like Protein 1 (ELAVL1) in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.
Kit reproducibility	Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): 3 samples with low, middle and high level ELAV Like Protein 1 (ELAVL1) were tested 20 times on one plate, respectively. Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): 3 samples with low, middle and high level ELAV Like Protein 1 (ELAVL1) were tested on 3 different plates, 8 replicates in each plate.
