Protein Function	Participates in the apoptotic response to DNA damage. Isoforms containing the transactivation domain are pro-apoptotic, isoforms lacking the domain are anti-apoptotic and block the function of p53 and transactivating p73 isoforms. May be a tumor suppressor protein.
Subcellular Localization	Nucleus. Cytoplasm. Accumulates in the nucleus in response to DNA damage.
Description	The p73 Cell-Based ELISA Kit is a convenient, lysate-free, high throughput and sensitive assay kit that can monitor p73 protein expression profile in cells. The kit can be used for measuring the relative amounts of p73 in cultured cells as well as screening for the effects that various treatments, inhibitors (ie. siRNA or chemicals), or activators have on p73.
Tissue Specificity	Expressed in striatal neurons of patients with Huntington disease (at protein level). Brain, kidney, placenta, colon, heart, liver, spleen, skeletal muscle, prostate, thymus and pancreas. Highly expressed in fetal tissue.
