Human Vitronectin ELISA Kit

Vitronectin (VTN) is a member of the Pexin family. VTN is an abundant glycoprotein found in serum and tissues where it promotes cell adhesion and spreading, inhibits the membrane-damaging effect of the terminal cytolytic Complement Pathway, and binds to several Serpins (Serine Protease Inhibitors). It is a secreted protein that exists in either a single chain form or a clipped, two chain form held together by a disulfide bond. VTN has been speculated to be involved in hemostasis and tumor malignancy. VTN binds to glycosaminoglycans, Collagen, Plasminogen (PLG) and Urokinase Receptors (UPAR). It also may control the clearance of vascular thrombi by binding and stablilizing SERPINE/PAI1. In binding SERPINE1/PAI1, it extends the lifetime of active SERPINE1/PAI1 VTN may also be involved in the regulation of bone metabolism. Human VTN will bind to the Capture Ab coated on the microtiter plate. Free and ligand bound enzyme will react with the antibody on the plate. After washing, Anti-Human VTN primary pAb binds to the VTN. Excess Ab is washed away and bound pAb is then reacted with the Anti-Rabbit HRP secondary pAb. Following more washing, TMB substrate is used for color development at 450 nm. The amount of color development is directly proportional to the concentration of total VTN in the sample.
