Description
The FGFs plays an important role in regulating tissue growth, morphogenesis and tissue repair. FGF-17 is a newly discovered heparin binding growth factor that stimulates the proliferation and activation of cells that express FGF receptors. The human FGF-17 is a 22.7 kDa protein containing 195 amino acid residues.
Formulation
Lyophilized from 10 mM Tris, pH 8.0 + 30 mM NaCl
Reconstitution
The lyophilized FGF-17 should be reconstituted in 5 mM Tris, pH 8.0 to a concentration of 1 mg/ml. This solution can be diluted into other buffered solutions or stored at -20C in working aliquots. For most, in vitro, applications, FGF-17 exerts its biological activity in the concentration range of 0.1 to 20.0 ng/ml.
Biological Activity
The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of thymidine uptake by BaF3 cells expressing FGF receptors is 0.5-1.0 ng/ml.
