Centrifuge vial prior to opening . After receipt, this product should be kept at -80 C or below for retention of full activity. Thawed product vial by incubation in cold tap water until just thawed-the contents of the tube should be apportioned in separate tubes so that freezing and thawing is kept to minimum. Refreezing should be done on dry ice or in a dry ice/alcohol bath. Further dilution of the product should be in buffers containing protein such as 0.1% bovine serum albumin (BSA). Please note that the addition of any carrier protein into this product may produce unwanted endotoxin. This depends upon the particular application employed.

Recombinant Human Interferon Beta 1a

Interferon was titrated with the use of a cytopathic effect inhibition assay. Encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV) was used to challenge A549 cells. The activity was determined relative to a lab standard of Hu IFN-β, which was calibrated to the NIH Hu IFN-β, standard (Gb23-902-531). The EC50 for IFN is ca. 1 U/ml.
