RecombinantHuman Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Beta Polypeptide is a homodimeric, glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 109 amino acids and having amolecular weight of 32, 021 Da, was expressed in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Thesequence of the first five Nterminal amino acids was determined to beSer-Leu-Gly-Ser-Leu. Contains less than 1% dimers and aggregates.

Purified, Lyophilized. Reconstitute using sterile deionized water to a concentration >100ug/ml.Further dilutions can be made in other aqueous buffers.

Platelet-derived growth factorsubunit B is a protein that in humans is encoded by the PDGFB gene. Theprotein encoded by this gene is a member of the platelet-derived growthfactor family. The four members of this family are mitogenic factors forcells of mesenchymal origin and are characterized by a motif of eightcysteines. This gene product can exist either as a homodimer (PDGF-BB) or asa heterodimer with the platelet-derived growth factor alpha polypeptide(PDGF-AB), where the dimers are connected by disulfide bonds. Mutations inthis gene are associated with meningioma. Reciprocal translocations betweenchromosomes 22 and 17, at sites where this gene and that for COL1A1 arelocated, are associated with a particular type of skin tumor called dermatofibrosarcomaprotuberans resulting from unregulated expression of growth factor. Twosplice variants have been identified for this gene.
