Spinorphin has an antinociceptive effect, inhibitory effect on contraction of smooth muscle and anti-inflammatory effect. It can enhance the inhibitory effect of enkephalin on allodynia induced by nociceptin, which are due to inhibition of enkephalin-degrading enzymes.
