Genway ID:

Applications:
The antibody can be used for neutralization in bio-assays. Furthermore the antibody is useful for staining of IFN-gamma containing cells in frozen sections as well as in cells cultured on cover slips and for Western blotting and immuno assay. The antibody reacts with rat Interferon gamma (IFN-gamma) of both natural and recombinant origin. IFN-gamma is a pluripotent cytokine with important pro-inflammatory functions. The antibody inhibits the biological activity of natural and recombinant rat IFN-gamma. The antigen specificity was further assessed by ELISA and Western blotting. No cross-reactivities with other cytokines have been detected.
Function:
Produced by lymphocytes activated by specific antigens or mitogens. IFN-gamma in addition to having antiviral activity has important immunoregulatory functions. It is a potent activator of macrophages it has antiproliferative effects on transformed cells and it can potentiate the antiviral and antitumor effects of the type I interferons.
Subunit:
Homodimer.
Subcellular Location:
Secreted.
Tissue Specificity:
Released primarily from activated T lymphocytes.
Similarity:
Belongs to the type II (or gamma) interferon family. Summary: an immune molecule produced by T lymphocytes in response to mitogens or antigens [RGD]. [1] Lee J. Kim S. J. Son T. G. Chan S.
