Specificity:
PHOSPHODIESTERASE 1C NCBI
Gene ID:
5137
Specificity:
PHOSPHODIESTERASE 1C
Immunogen:
Synthetic peptide: C-terminal domain of human phosphodiesterase 1C conjugated to KLH.
Specificity Note:
This product detects an epitope within the C-terminal (CT) region of phosphodiesterase 1C (PDE1C) a subtype of the PDE1 enzyme. PDE1C is activated by calmodulin binding in the presence of calcium and degrades the cyclic nucleotides cAMP and cGMP. A number of PDE1C isoforms exist each with different affinities for cAMP and cGMP. They have a range of molecular weights from 65-70kD. PDE1C is a major regulator of smooth muscle cell (SMC) proliferation in humans and plays an important role in the development of organs containing smooth muscle. PDE1C may also have a role in olfaction regulation of sperm function and neuronal signaling. Inhibition of PDE1C may prove beneficial in the treatment of diseases such as atherosclerosis and pulmonary hypertension where excessive SMC proliferation occurs. Histology: Thyroid
Antiserum Preparation:
Antisera to phosphodiesterase 1C (CT) were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbit with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography.
Buffer Solution:
Phosphate buffered saline pH7. 7
Preservative Stabilisers:
0. 01% Sodium Azide (NaN3) 1% Bovine Serum Albumin Suggested
Dilution:
Suggested
Dilution:
Immunohistology - Paraffin - 2 - 10ug/ml
Function:
Has a high affinity for both cAMP and cGMP.
Catalytic Activity:
Nucleoside 3\' 5\' -cyclic phosphate + H2O = nucleoside 5\' -phosphate.
Enzyme Regulation:
Type I PDE are activated by the binding of calmodulin in the presence of Ca(2+).
Subunit:
Homodimer (By similarity).
Tissue Specificity:
Expressed in several tissues including brain and heart.
