Specificity:
SARS ENVELOPE PROTEIN
Specificity:
SARS ENVELOPE PROTEIN
Immunogen:
Synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence within the carboxy-terminus of the SARS Envelope protein.
Specificity Note:
This product is specific for the SARS (Severe acute respiratory syndrome) Envelope protein also known as E protein. SARS Envelope protein is an integral membrane protein present at low stoichiometric quantities in the virion. The protein has a small N-terminal hydrophilic domain on the exterior a single transmembrane domain and an interior C-terminal domain. The Envelope protein interacts with SARS Membrane protein and plays a role in viral assembly and budding.
Antiserum Preparation:
Antisera to SARS E protein were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared by affinity chromatography.
Buffer Solution:
Phosphate buffered saline
Preservative Stabilisers:
0. 02%Sodium Azide
Function:
Component of the viral envelope that plays a central role in virus morphogenesis and assembly. It is sufficient to form virus-like particles. Seems to be important for creating the membrane curvature needed to acquire the rounded stable and infectious particle phenotype. Acts as a viroporin inducing the formation of hydrophilic pores in cellular membranes. Also induces apoptosis (By similarity).
Subunit:
Homooligomer. Interacts with the M membrane protein in the budding compartment of the host cell which is located between endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi complex (By similarity). Interacts with the accessory proteins 3a and 7a.
Subcellular Location:
Virion membrane; Single-pass type III membrane protein (Potential). Golgi apparatus membrane; Single-pass type III membrane protein (Potential). Note=Largely membrane-embedded. The N-terminus could be located within the membrane near the cytoplasmic side since no part of the protein is aparently exposed on the virion outside. The large hydrophobic domain could form a hairpin looping back through the membrane. There also may be a second hydrophobic domain integrated into membranes (By similarity).
Similarity:
Belongs to the coronaviruses E protein family.
