A phospho specific peptide corresponding to residues surrounding threonine 497 of human PKC alpha was used as an immunogen. This antibody detects PKC alpha phosphorylated on thr497.

PKC isoforms have been classified into three groups: classical novel and atypical. Members of these three PKC groups contain an autoinhibitory domain that binds to the substrate binding site in the catalytic domain preventing its activation in the absence of cofactors or activators (2 3). The activity of PKC is under the control of three distinct phosphorylation events including that of the Thr641 autophosphorylation site (4). 1.
