Fibrinogen beta chain

A synthetic peptide corresponding to residues in human Fibrinogen beta chain was used as an immunogen.

WB: 1:5 000 - 10 000IHC: 1:50 - 100ICC: 1:100. Fibrinogen is a heterohexamer and contains 2 sets of 3 non-identical chains (alpha beta and gamma). Conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin is triggered by thrombin which cleaves fibrinopeptides A and B from alpha and beta chains and thus exposes the N-terminal polymerization sites responsible for the formation of soft clot (1). Various cleavage products of fibrinogen and fibrin released during coagulation and fibrinolysis repectively regulate cell adhesion and spreading display vasoconstrictor and chemotactic activities and are mitogens for several cell types including fibroblasts endothelial and smooth muscle cells (2). Mutations in this gene lead to several disorders including afibrinogenemia dysfibrinogenemia hypodysfibrinogennemia and thrombotic tendency (3 4). An increase in blood fibrinogen concentration has been identified as an independent risk factor for coronary ateroscelerosis and ischemic heart disease (5 6). 1.
