Not tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the researcher. Calcitonin is a peptide hormone synthesized by the parafollicular cells of the thyroid. It causes a rapid but short lived reduction in serum calcium and phosphate by promoting the incorporation of those ions in the bones. This effect is opposite to that of parathyroid hormone.
Function:	Calcitonin causes a rapid but short-lived drop in the level of calcium and phosphate in blood by promoting the incorporation of those ions in the bones.
Function:	Katacalcin is a potent plasma calcium-lowering peptide.
