Specificity:
ANGIOTENSIN I
Specificity:
ANGIOTENSIN I
Clone:
BGN/KA/4H
Immunogen:
Synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 40-49 of the angiotensinogen precursor (Swiss-Prot entry P01019) conjugated to HMW carrier protein.
Specificity Note:
This product is specific for Angiotensin I and does not react with angiotensin II III or angiotensinogen in ELISA. Angiotensin I is important in the Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System (RAAS). RAAS is responsible for the regulation of blood pressure and water retention in the body. Angiotensin I is produced from a reaction between the renal enzyme Renin and angiotensinogen. It is converted by Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) into a vasoactive form called Angiotensin II which is responsible for increasing blood pressure. *This product has been evaluated for use in ELISA. In a simple indirect ELISA using 1. 0 ug of Angiotensin I coated per well the 50% binding was observed at an antibody dilution of 1/12K. Under the same conditions the end point titre was observed at an antibody dilution of 1/100K.
Preparation:
Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography on Protein A
Buffer Solution:
Phosphate buffered saline pH 7. 2
Preservative Stabilisers:
0. 09% Sodium Azide (NaN3) Summary: The protein encoded by this gene pre-angiotensinogen or angiotensinogen precursor is expressed in the liver and is cleaved by the enzyme renin in response to lowered blood pressure. The resulting product angiotensin I is then cleaved by angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) to generate the physiologically active enzyme angiotensin II. The protein is involved in maintaining blood pressure and in the pathogenesis of essential hypertension and preeclampsia. Summary: The protein encoded by this gene pre-angiotensinogen or angiotensinogen precursor is expressed in the liver and is cleaved by the enzyme renin in response to lowered blood pressure. The resulting product angiotensin I is then cleaved by angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) to generate the physiologically active enzyme angiotensin II. The protein is involved in maintaining blood pressure and in the pathogenesis of essential hypertension and preeclampsia. Mutations in this gene are associated with susceptibility to essential hypertension and can cause renal tubular dysgenesis a severe disorder of renal tubular development. Defects in this gene have also been associated with non-familial structural atrial fibrillation and inflammatory bowel disease. [provided by RefSeq].
