Function:	Receptor for natriuretic peptide hormones. Has broad specificity and can bind several distinct natriuretic peptides including atrial natriuretic peptide (NPPA) and brain natriuretic peptide (NPPB). Does not have guanylate cyclase activity.
Subunit:	Homodimer; disulfide-linked. Dimers can also be formed through the C-terminal cysteine of isoform 2.
Subcellular Location:	Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.
Miscellaneous:	There seem to be at least three natriuretic peptide hormone receptors: two with guanylate cyclase activity (NPR1/ANP-A and NPR2/ANP-B) and one (NPR3/ANP-C) which is probably responsible for the clearance of natriuretic peptides from the circulation without a role in signal transduction.
Miscellaneous:	Has low affinity for peptide hormones in the absence of bound chloride.
Similarity:	Belongs to the ANF receptor family.
