Target	FUNCTION: This protein is associated with nerve growth. It is a major component of the motile "growth cones" that form the tips of elongating axons. SUBUNIT: Binds calmodulin with a greater affinity in the absence of Ca(2+) than in its presence. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cell membrane; Peripheral membrane protein; Cytoplasmic side. Cell projection, growth cone membrane; Peripheral membrane protein; Cytoplasmic side. Cell junction, synapse. Note: Cytoplasmic surface of growth cone and synaptic plasma membranes.

Applications info	IHC. A concentration of 10-50 ug/ml is recommended. The optimal concentration should be determined by the end user.
Storage	Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.

Immunogen	A synthetic peptide from the n-terminal region of human Axonal membrane protein GAP-43 (Neuromodulin, growth-associated protein 43) conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein was used as the antigen. The peptide is homologous in rat, mouse, zebra fish and chicken.
