Rabbit antibody to SHANK3

Function: Seems to be an adapter protein in the postsynaptic density (PSD) of excitatory synapses that interconnects receptors of the postsynaptic membrane including NMDA-type and metabotropic glutamate receptors via complexes with GKAP/PSD-95 and Homer, respectively, and the actin-based cytoskeleton. May play a role in the structural and functional organization of the dendritic spine and synaptic junction.
Subcellular location: Cytoplasm. Cell junction a€C synapse. Cell junction a€C synapse a€C postsynaptic cell membrane a€C postsynaptic density. Note: Postsynaptic density of neuronal cells. Extends into the region subjacent to the PSD.
Tissue specificity: Widely expressed in brain.

IHC, WB. A dilution of 1: 1000 is recommended. The optimal dilution should be determined by the end user. Not yet tested in other applications.

A synthetic peptide from PDZ region of human SHANK3 (ProSAP2) conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein was used as the antigen. The peptide shares 90% identity with rat and mouse sequences.
