Usage notes |
Always centrifuge tubes before opening. It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized human CD40 protein in the buffer which we provide not less than 100 ug/mL, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions. |
Storage instructions |
Lyophilized human CD40 protein product should be stored desiccated below -18C. Upon reconstitution, the protein should be stored at 4C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles. |
Shipping |
The product is shipped at ambient temperature. |

Background |
CD40 is a 48 kDa type I transmembrane protein that is constitutively expressed on hematopoietic cells such as dendritic cells, macrophages, and B cells. CD40 is a TNF receptor superfamily member expressed on both immune and non-immune cells. Interactions between B cell-expressed CD40 and its binding partner, CD40L, predominantly expressed on activated CD4+ T cells, play a critical role in promoting germinal center formation and the production of class-switched antibodies. The involvement of CD40 in chronic immune activation has resulted in CD40 being proposed as a therapeutic target for a range of chronic inflammatory diseases. CD40 antagonists are currently being explored for the treatment of autoimmune diseases and several anti-CD40 agonist mAbs have entered clinical development for oncological indications. |
