Product description
EGFR, also named as ERBB1, is a cell-surface receptor for members of the epidermal growth factor family (EGF-family) of extracellular protein ligands. Binding of the protein to a ligand induces receptor dimerization and tyrosine autophosphorylation and leads to cell proliferation. EGFR plays a critical role in cancer development and progression, including cell proliferation, apoptosis, angiogenesis, and metastatic spread.  Ligand binding results in receptor dimerization, autophosphorylation, activation of downstream signaling, internalization, and lysosomal degradation. Phosphorylation of EGF receptor (EGFR) is implicated in many functions, including maintaining the active state enzyme, providing a binding surface for substrate proteins, creates a major docking site for the adaptor protein. EGFR S1166 phosphorylation induced by a combination of EGF and gefitinib has a potentially negative impact on lung cancer cell growth.
