BAFF is a type II transmembrane protein, and a member of the tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily. BAFF can be proteolytically cleaved to form a soluble protein. BAFF, like other TNF ligand family members, forms homotrimers. The predicted molecular weight of a BAFF monomer is ~31kD. BAFF is expressed on peripheral blood B and T lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells and is upregulated by IFN-gamma and downregulated by PMA/ionomycin treatment.

BAFF stimulates B and T cell immunity and regulates humoral immunity by binding TACI and BCMA receptors; BAFF prevents apoptosis and promotes B cell survival by binding the BAFF-specific receptor (BAFFR/BR3).

Applications:
Suitable for use in Flow Cytometry and ELISA. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
Flow Cytometry: ≤2ug/10e6 cells in 100ul
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
