Elastase, like trypsin and chymotrypsin, is a serine protease that also hydrolyses amides and esters It is produced in the pancreas as an inactive zymogen, proelastase, and activated in the duodenum by trypsin. Elastase is distinctive in that it acts upon elastin.

Store at 4ºC. Do not freeze. Mix well prior to use. Due to the viscous nature of this preparation, it is recommended to rinse the vial with sterile dH2O or buffer to recover the total contents.
