Description of target
Component of the class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC). Involved in the presentation of peptide antigens to the immune system. Exogenously applied M.tuberculosis EsxA or EsxA-EsxB (or EsxA expressed in host) binds B2M and decreases its export to the cell surface (total protein levels do not change), probably leading to defects in class I antigen presentation (PubMed:25356553).

Kit principle
The microplate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Beta-2-Microglobulin (b2M). Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microplate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Beta-2-Microglobulin (b2M). Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. Then the mixture of substrate A and B is added to generate glow light emission kinetics. Upon plate development, the intensity of the emitted light is proportional to the Beta-2-Microglobulin (b2M) level in the sample or standard.
