Description of target	Functions as an inhibitory receptor that plays a constitutive negative regulatory role on cytolytic function of natural killer (NK) cells, B-cells and T-cells. Activation by Tyr phosphorylation results in recruitment and activation of the phosphatases PTPN6 and PTPN11. It also reduces the increase of intracellular calcium evoked by B-cell receptor ligation. May also play its inhibitory role independently of SH2-containing phosphatases. Modulates cytokine production in CD4+ T-cells, down-regulating IL2 and IFNG production while inducing secretion of transforming growth factor beta. Down-regulates also IgG and IgE production in B-cells as well as IL8, IL10 and TNF secretion. Inhibits proliferation and induces apoptosis in myeloid leukemia cell lines as well as prevents nuclear translocation of NF-kappa-B p65 subunit/RELA and phosphorylation of I-kappa-B alpha/CHUK in these cells. Inhibits the differentiation of peripheral blood precursors towards dendritic cells.

Kit principle	The test principle applied in this kit is Sandwich enzyme immunoassay. The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with an antibody specific to Leukocyte Associated Immunoglobulin Like Receptor 1 (LAIR1). Standards or samples are then added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with a biotin-conjugated antibody specific to Leukocyte Associated Immunoglobulin Like Receptor 1 (LAIR1). Next, Avidin conjugated to Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to each microplate well and incubated. After TMB substrate solution is added, only those wells that contain Leukocyte Associated Immunoglobulin Like Receptor 1 (LAIR1), biotin-conjugated antibody and enzyme-conjugated Avidin will exhibit a change in color. The enzyme-substrate reaction is terminated by the addition of sulphuric acid solution and the color change is measured spectrophotometrically at a wavelength of 450nm +/- 10nm. The concentration of Leukocyte Associated Immunoglobulin Like Receptor 1 (LAIR1) in the samples is then determined by comparing the O.D. of the samples to the standard curve.
Kit reproducibility	Intra-assay Precision (Precision within an assay): 3 samples with low, middle and high level Leukocyte Associated Immunoglobulin Like Receptor 1 (LAIR1) were tested 20 times on one plate, respectively. Inter-assay Precision (Precision between assays): 3 samples with low, middle and high level Leukocyte Associated Immunoglobulin Like Receptor 1 (LAIR1) were tested on 3 different plates, 8 replicates in each plate.
