Storage Conditions	The lyophilized human FGF-6, though stable at room temperature, is best stored desiccated below -20C. Freeze/thaw cycles will result in significant loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Description	FGF-6 is a secreted heparin binding growth factor that is a member of the FGF family. Proteins of this family play a central role during prenatal development and postnatal growth and regeneration of a variety of tissue, by promoting cellular proliferation and differentiation. FGF-6 is expressed in leukemia cell lines with platelet megakaryocytic differentiation potential. It signals through FGFR 1c, 2c, and 4. Recombinant human FGF-6 is an 18.7 kDa protein consisting of 168 amino acid residues.
Formulation	Sterile filtered and lyophilized from 10 Sodium Phosphate, pH7.2, + 50 mM NaCl.
Reconstitution	Centrifuge vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of <0.5 mg/ml. Do not vortex. For extended storage, it is recommended to further dilute in a buffer containing a carrier protein (example 0.1% BSA) and store in working aliquots at -20C to -80C.
Specificity	2 x 106 units/mg.
Biological Activity	The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of thymidine uptake by BaF3 cells expressing FGF receptors is <= 0.5 ng/ml.
Endotoxin Level	<0.1 ng per ug of FGF-6.
