Recombinant Human M-CSF/CSF1

Stable at 2-4C, but best kept desiccated at -20C. Upon reconstitution, stable for up to 1 week at 2-4C. For longer term, store in working aliquots at -20C to -80C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Macrophage Colony Stimulating Factor (M-CSF) is a four alpha helical bundle cytokine that is the primary regulator of macrophage survival, proliferation and differentiation. M-CSF is also essential for the survival and proliferation of osteoclast progenitors. M-CSF also primes and enhances macrophage killing of tumor cells and microorganisms, regulates the release of cytokines and other inflammatory modulators from macrophages, and stimulates pinocytosis. As a result of glycosylation, the recombinant protein migrates with an apparent MW = 42.0 +/- 4.2 kDa in SDS-PAGE, a covalently linked homodimer, of two 21 kDa polypeptide monomers.

Centrifuge vial prior to opening to bring contents to bottom. Add sterile distilled water to a concentration of 0.1 mg/ml. Further dilutions should be made in appropriate buffered solutions.

ED50 is <3.0 ng/mL, determined by the dose-dependant stimulation of the proliferation of mouse M-NSF-60 cells.
