Recombinant Rat IL-1 beta

Stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, but best kept desiccated below -20C. Upon reconstitution, store at 2-4C for one week and for six months below -20C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Recombinant Rat Interleukin-1 beta is a non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 153 amino acids. IL-1β, is a proinflammatory cytokine produced in a variety of cells including monocytes, tissue macrophages, keratinocytes and other epithelial cells. Both IL-1α, and IL-1β, binds to the same receptor and has similar biological properties. These cytokines have a broad range of activities including, stimulation of thymocyte proliferation, B-cell maturation and proliferation, mitogenic FGF-like activity and stimulation of the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells. However, whereas IL-1β, is a secreted cytokine, IL-1α, is predominantly a cell-associated cytokine.

Centrifuge vial prior to opening. First add sterile water to the vial to fully solubilize the protein to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. After complete solubilization of the protein, it can be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.

Determined by the dose-dependant proliferation of mouse D10S cells. The ED50 is <=0.1 ng/ml.
