Genway ID:
GWB-892ACE
Antigen Specificity:
Polyclonal antibody produced in rabbits immunized with a synthetic peptide corresponding to a region of Human KCNK3. Western Blot: Suggested dilution at 1. 25 microg/ml in 5% skim milk / PBS buffer. and HRP conjugated anti-Rabbit IgG should be diluted in 1: 50. 000 - 100. 000 as second antibody.
ELISA Titre:
1:1562500
Category:
Signal Protein
Note:
Suggested starting concentrations are provided. Optimal dilutions should be determined by end-user. Differences in calculated versus apparent molecular weight may be due to post-translational modifications or protein hydrophobicity. KCNK3 encodes one of the members of the superfamily of potassium channel proteins containing two pore-forming P domains. The gene product is an outwardly rectifying channel that is sensitive to changes in extracellular pH and is inhibited by extracellular acidification. Also referred to as an acid-sensitive potassium channel it is activated by the anesthetics halothane and isoflurane. Although three transcripts are detected in northern blots there is currently no sequence available to confirm transcript variants for this gene
Function:
pH-dependent voltage-insensitive background potassium channel protein. Rectification direction results from potassium ion concentration on either side of the membrane. Acts as an outward rectifier when external potassium concentration is low. When external potassium concentration is high current is inward.
Subcellular Location:
Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein (Potential).
Tissue Specificity:
Widespread expression in adult. Strongest expression in pancreas and placenta. Lower expression in brain lung prostate heart kidney uterus small intestine and colon.
Miscellaneous:
Inhibited by external acidification. Activated by halothane and isoflurane.
Similarity:
Belongs to the two pore domain potassium channel (TC 1. A. 1. 8) family [view classification].
