Specificity:
4EBP1
Immunogen:
Synthetic peptide corresponding to a region within human 4EBP1.
Specificity Note:
This product is specific for human eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E binding protein 1 (4EBP1). 4EBP1 is principally expressed in the cytoplasm and has a role in translation regulation. 4EBP1 binds to eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (eIF4E) which prevents the formation of the active eIF4E complex. Hyperphosphorylation of 4EBP1 results in the release of eIF4E thus allowing the translation complex to assemble.
Antiserum Preparation:
Antisera to human 4EBP1 were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG was prepared from whole serum by affinity chromatography.
Buffer Solution:
Tris-citrate/phosphate
Preservative Stabilisers:
0. 09%Sodium AzideSuggested

Western Blotting - 1:1000 - 1:6000 Summary: This protein is one member of a family of translation repressor proteins. The protein directly interacts with eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4E (eIF4E) which is a limiting component of the multisubunit complex that recruits 40S ribosomal subunits to the 5\' end of mRNAs. Interaction of this protein with eIF4E inhibits complex assembly and represses translation. This protein is phosphorylated in response to various signals including UV irradiation and insulin signaling resulting in its dissociation from eIF4E and activation of mRNA translation.
