Genway ID:
GWB-D4C7A8
Clone:
4F8
Isotype:
IgG1
Immunogen:
Recombinant full length protein.
Specificity:
This antibody recognizes recombinant human leptin and leptin circulating in human blood.
Target:
Leptin
Localization:
Secreted Storage
Buffer:
Phosphate-buffered saline pH 7. 4 containing 0. 1% sodium azide
Application Note:
For ELISA: Use at an assay dependent dilution. This antibody was tested in sandwich ELISA as capture and detection antibodies with human blood samples. This antibody detects antigen in human blood with high sensitivity. Not tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the researcher. Cellular
Localization:
Secreted Myeloma: Sp2/0 Leptin (from the Greek leptos meaning thin) is a protein hormone with important effects in regulating body weight metabolism and reproductive function. The protein is approximately 16 kDa in mass and encoded by the obese (ob) gene. Leptin is expressed predominantly by adipocytes which fits with the idea that body weight is sensed as the total mass of fat in the body. Smaller amounts of leptin are also secreted by cells in the epithelium of the stomach and in the placenta. Leptin receptors are highly expressed in areas of the hypothalamus known to be important in regulating body weight as well as in T lymphocytes and vascular endothelial cells. Leptin\' s effects on body weight are mediated through effects on hypothalamic centers that control feeding behavior and hunger body temperature and energy expenditure.
Function:
May function as part of a signaling pathway that acts to regulate the size of the body fat depot. An increase in the level of LEP may act directly or indirectly on the CNS to inhibit food intake and/or regulate energy expenditure as part of a homeostatic mechanism to maintain constancy of the adipose mass.
Subunit:
Interacts with SIGLEC6.
Subcellular Location:
Secreted.
Disease:
Defects in LEP may be a cause of autosomal recessive obesity [MIM:601665].
Similarity:
Belongs to the leptin family.
