Fusion Partner:	Spleen cells from immunised Balb/c mice were fused with cells of the Sp2/0 myeloma cell line.
Specificity Note:	This product detects Urotensin II (U-II) a cyclic heptapeptide that functions both as a potent vasoconstrictor and a neurotransmitter/neuromodulator. U-II circulates in the plasma as a zymogen and is activated by the urotensin converting enzyme. U-II is the endogenous ligand for the G-protein coupled receptor 14 (GPR14) recently renamed the UT receptor. Changes in the expression of U-II and its receptor have been associated with cardiovascular and renal diseases including atherosclerosis myocardial infarction and diabetic nephropathy.
