It is commonly used as a labeling reagent in biochemistry and molecular biology to detect and quantify proteins and other biomolecules. ABEI can be attached to the amino groups of proteins or peptides and will generate a strong fluorescent signal when excited by light of a specific wavelength. This allows the detection and quantification of proteins and other biomolecules in biological samples such as blood or tissue samples.
