Introduction	Human Oxytocin stimulates uterine smooth muscle contractions indirectly and stimulates the mammary glands to increase lactation without increasing the production of milk.
Description	Oxytocin Human Synthetic is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 9 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 1007.2 Dalton. Oxytocin has a molecular formula of C43H66N12O12S2. The OT is purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
Physical Appearance	Sterile Filtered White lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder.
Formulation	The Oxytocin was lyophilized from a concentrated (1 mg/ml) solution with no additives.
Purity	Greater than 99.0% as determined by RP-HPLC.
Usage	ProSpec's products are furnished for LABORATORY RESEARCH USE ONLY. The product may not be used as drugs, agricultural or pesticidal products, food additives or household chemicals.
Amino acid sequence	Cys-Tyr-Ile-Gln-Asn-Cys-Pro-Leu-Gly-NH2.
Storage	Lyophilized Oxytocin although stable at room temperature for 3 weeks, should be stored desiccated below -18C. Upon reconstitution Neurophysin 1 should be stored at 4C between 2-7 days and for future use below -18C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.
