Mouse TNF-alpha occurs as a membrane-anchored form. The naturally-occurring form of TNF-alpha is glycosylated, but non-glycosylated recombinant TNF-alpha has comparable biological activity. The biologically active native form of TNF-alpha is reportedly a trimer.
