Specificity:	This product identifies GD3 a prominent ganglioside of human melanoma melanocytes and other cells of neuroectodermal origin. It reacts withstrocytes certain groups of neurons in the brain cells in the parotid adrenal medulla and pancreatic islets.

Application Note:	IHC-Fr: Use at a dilution of 1/40. Not tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user. Almost all melanomas astrocytomas a proportion of sarcomas a small number of carcinomas some nevi as well as normal melanocytes express GD3 antigen.
Function:	Involved in the production of GD3 and GT3 from GM3.
Catalytic Activity:	CMP-N-acetylneuraminate + alpha-N-acetylneuraminyl-(2-& gt; 3)-beta-D-galactosyl-R = CMP + alpha-N-acetylneuraminyl-(2-& gt; 8)-alpha-N-acetylneuraminyl-(2-& gt; 3)-beta-D-galactosyl-R.
Pathway:	Protein modification; protein glycosylation.
Subcellular Location:	Golgi apparatus membrane; Single-pass type II membrane protein (Potential).
Tissue Specificity:	Strongly expressed in melanoma cell lines adult and fetal brain and to a lesser extent in adult and fetal lung.
Similarity:	Belongs to the glycosyltransferase 29 family.
