SC79

Description: SC79 is a novel, potent, selective, cell-permeable, and brain-penetrable activator of Akt phosphorylation with the potential to be used to enhance Akt activity in various physiological and pathological conditions, e.g. to prevent progressive neuronal death in neurological diseases. SC79 is also an inhibitor of Akt-PH (pleckstrin homology) domain translocation by binding to the PH domain of Akt and enhances Akt phosphorylation by upstream protein kinases. In a hippocampal neuronal culture system and a mouse model for ischemicstroke, the cytosolic activation of Akt by SC79 is sufficient torecapitulate the primary cellular function of Akt signaling, resultingin augmented neuronal survival.
