Leupeptin Hemisulfate (NK381)

Description: Leupeptin Hemisulfate (NK-381; N-acetyl-L-leucyl-L-leucyl-L-argininal) is a naturally occurring, membrane-permeable, reversible and competitive inhibitor of the serine and cysteine proteases with potential antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. It inhibits bovine trypsin, human plasmin, bovine spleen cathepsin B and recombinant human calpain with Ki values of 35 nM, 3.4 uM, 6 nM and 72 nM, respectively. It was originally isolated from the Streptomyces species to study protease activity and exhibited poor membrane permeability due to its polar C-terminal.
