Description	InvivoChem Cat #:V0850CAS #:651-06-9Purity >=98% Description: Sulfameter (Bayrena; Sulfametoxydiazine; 5-Methoxysulfadiazine; NSC-683528; I-2586; SH-613) is a novel, long-acting sulfonamide antibacterial agent used as a leprostatic agent and also is used to treat UTIs/urinary tract infections. Sulfonamide antibiotics act by blocking the synthesis of dihydrofolic acid via inhibiting the enzyme DHPS/ dihydropteroate synthase. Sulfonamides are active against Gram positive bacteria and Gram negative bacteria. The mode of resistance is via the alteration of dihydropteroate synthase or alternative pathway for folic acid synthesis.
