Membrane and Cytosol Protein Extraction Kit

Abbexa's Membrane and Cytosol Protein Extraction Kit provides a simple and convenient way for extracting membrane and cytosol proteins from cultured cells and tissues in just 90 minutes. This kit can extract plasma membranes as well as proteins found on the membranes of mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum and golgi apparatus. Briefly, cells are lysed by homogenization, and through low-speed centrifugation, nuclear material and unlysed cells are discarded. The supernatant is collected and centrifuged at high speed to obtain cell membrane pellets and supernatant containing cytosol proteins. The membrane proteins are extracted from the pellets using the Kit's extraction Reagents. Extracted proteins can be used for SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, enzyme activity and other subsequent experiments. The extraction Reagents contain protease and phosphatase inhibitors and EDTA and therefore it is not suitable for determining enzyme activities which are affected by these inhibitors, however, the extracted membrane or cytosol proteins can be used for detection of protein phosphorylation levels.
